Stormi Begley, Nichole Griffin, and Aden Amburgey created a scale model of the Washington National Cathedral for their 8th grade Math/Science BRAVO project. After creating a 2-dimensional design, they used cardboard, paint, and ingenuity to make a table top model to scale. They also wowed the class during their presentation by pointing out the actual cathedral in D.C. is where Helen Keller is buried, and discussing how the shadows on their model were painted to represent how the building’s shadows would be cast at 2:30 in the afternoon, since it faces west. By incorporating math, science, architecture principles, elements of art, and principles of design, these students have demonstrated just how well-rounded they are. Very impressive!
